Ships Ashore

During a storm with heavy
snow showers ten light vessels
went ashore at the North Cheek,
Robin Hood's Bay, all the crews
were saved. A company of twenty
carpenters, under the direction
of Capt. John Marshall of Bay,
were contracted to refloat them.

The "Miriam" of Sunderland
was sold for £300 but became a wreck as did
the "Marion" and the "Clemence".
Of the "Hebe" and the "Athens"
from South Shields nothing is known.
