25th April 1930

The trawler "Star of the East" ashore on "Ravenscar Rocks" while returning to land a good catch of fish in her home port of Scarborough.

Robin Hood's Bay lifeboat "Mary Ann Lockwood" was launched at 03:00 to keep watch on the stranded trawler until 10:15 by which time she had been refloated on the high tide. This was to be the last service call for the lifeboat, the station was closed in April 1931 as motor lifeboats were now stationed at Whitby and Scarborough.
